Tiny Feminist Painting We Keep Us Safe

When I think about it, I started collecting funny quips in high school. Anytime someone said something that tickled me I wrote it down in my planner. (That’s what planners are for, right?) I carried on all through college collecting amusing phrases, witty remarks, and personal epiphanies. 

Years later, when I got divorced, I found that leaving myself little notes helped ease the grief and as an artist making art based on those uplifting messages came naturally. I jotted down messages that moved my heart. I found inspiration in song lyrics, conversations, podcasts, pinterest boards (remember when Pinterest allowed you to follow your friends and was actually inspirational?!???!) and Instagram posts (remember these also used to allow us to follow inspirational folks?!?!?!)

At the time I had spent a few years painting, what I called, “Furry Fat Birds” on tiny canvases. The grief helped to transform my artistic style and as I evolved I incorporated my personal notes on paintings. I coined this series “Tiny Feminist Paintings.” Painting dozens of ‘Tiny Feminist Paintings’ at a time presented me an with opportunity to flex my abstract painting muscles while creating affordable art that resonated with me clients.

One thing about me that fully pours out through my personality is I absolutely adore making people happy. I love to be the comedian in the group, the class clown, a happiness guru, a lifelong cheerleader. I’ve found that Tiny Feminist Paintings are a subtle, and not so subtle, way to encourage all of you. I love and adore all you sweet humans, humbly trying to survive capitalism. 

So here they are, Tiny Feminist Paintings: introducing men to the concept that feminism is for everyone since 2016! Feminism means genuine equality. Equality that allows everyone to make mistakes and learn from them. Keep laughing, keep learning, keep loving! Thank you for reading my big long story!
